Where did the Phrase African Booty Scratcher Come From?

I had never scratched my booty once in front of anyone when I first arrived on American soil. However, I often found myself being referred to as an African booty scratcher in school or at the playground in the U.S. It always hurt to be called names but I never took the "African booty scratcher" phrase too seriously because I knew that I wasn't an African Booty Scratcher. Now that I am older, I am still a bit curious as to how the phrase came about and why it even came about in the first place.

Where did the phrase "African Booty Scratcher" originate from?

Urban Outfitters Promoting Sex, Drugs and Alcohol?

UOxxxmas03.JPGI was just doing some cleaning when I stumbled upon the 2012 Holiday Catalog from Urban Outfitters. I shop at UO because they really do have unique dresses and shoes for young people like myself. However, I couldn't help but notice how vulgar some of their collections were. They had so many graphic tees and suggestive memorabilia. Young people especially teenagers shop at UO and I just think it is inappropriate how they promote thinks like profanity, drinking, sex and drugs through their items. Some of these items like the drunken flask may have been funny to me if I was still a teenager. But now, I'm actually saddened because I feel like they should be more responsible for what they put out there for young people. Or am I being unreasonable?

Do you believe these UO actively promotes profanity, drinking, sex, and drugs or are they just selling items that people want to buy?

The Ten Commandments For Single Ladies

1. Don't be in a hurry to move out of your parents house.
2. Don't wait for a man before you start living. You can live a fulfilled life as a single woman.
3. Stay away from alcohol. It has killed others and you are not special.
4. Don't entertain a wrong number call, especially at night. Its not the right way to find a lover.
5. Develop a healthy eating habit. Always take breakfast and avoid sweets.
6. Dress well: impression count. People will judge you by the way you dress even before they talk to you.
7. Don't use sex as proof of love. Sex is no proof of love, he'll leave you after the sex.
8. Don't marry for the money, else you'll become one of his possessions.
9. Add value to yourself - get a career. Don't be fooled that a man will solve all your problems.
10. Beauty is not everything. If it is all you have, you'll lose your place to someone beautiful better more matured and competent than you..

BLOGSPHERE COMMENTER OF THE DAY

This extreme sensible response was directed to Annie Macaulay, the fiance of popular Nigerian artist 2face Idibia who is currently in Dubai making arrangements for their wedding. Since their engagement Annie has been posting pics all over the blosgphere and internet flaunting her lifestyle as the new Mrs Idibia when no one is envious of her and her relationship with her fiance who has fathered about 6 children each with a different woman..........

Funny how the value of a person is defined by money in this country. If he was a regular average joe, after 5 children and 2 baby mamas, 9ja people will be cursing him, and telling Annie she can do better. We all have real life examples i’m sure. So, because 2Face is wealthy, it now makes up for all that she went through, and people are now seeing her as lucky, the chosen one, highly favoured. Its good, she suffered with him, so she should reap the benefits. It doesn’t help that the poor girl acts as if she was won the lottery. Since she’s become Mrs idibia, you can tell by the increased exposure she is giving herself, the way she behaves at events, when she’s around celebrities, some of her tweets that filter unto blogs. As if, “Really na me be this, na so life sweet reach, ehn, see me o, finally this man made me his wife, my life has shot up to the stars”. Annie, 2face didnt do you a favour, you did him a favour. 9ja mentality of the man chose you, you should be worshipping the ground he walks on, and count yourself blessed. He should be worshipping the ground on which you walk on, counting himself extremely lucky that you tolerated his BS, and he should be behaving himself, like big time. People should stop talking like she won the jackpot, all this she is so lucky, good for her after all this years, should be directed at 2Face please. There’s no “she deserves it”. Women know your worth and act it. Money should not make up for heartache, high blood pressure, and public embarassment.
Nigerians, money shouldnt be your moral compass. You hear stories of a man cheats, then he buys her a £1m dollar bracelet. Its reasoning like the one’s I’ve been reading here that encourages it. I hope you have a beautiful wedding Annie.

Baddest Nigerian Officers and Generals of All-Time

Our four generals not only earn a spot because of their services or lack thereof to Nigeria, but because of their dashing looks..........

Former, President and Commander of Nigeria's armed forces, General Sani Abacha was one of the baddest guys in Nigerian history. Literally! He was hated by so many because he ruled as a dictator and his regime was linked to so much corruption. His personality could some what be likened to that of Tony Montana. Abacha was a sharp dresser and was always dressed to kill (literally) in his military best. He got the girls, the money and armed men but at the end of it all, his regime came crumbling down. But Abacha still remains one of the baddest generals of all time.

General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma aka T.Y Danjuma has been a household name in Nigeria since the 1960s. He was the Nigerian Army's Chief of Army Staff from July 1975 to October 1979. He was also Minister of Defence under Obasanjo's regime in 1999. In 2008, the TY Danjuma Foundation was created in an effort help poverty stricken communities by providing basic amenities, education for children and young adults and free medical care for indigents.

Nigeria's former head of state, Yakubu Gowon (still living) makes our list with his striking good looks and his HIV/AIDS outreach in parts of Africa. He was Nigeria's youngest military chief of staff. He was overthrown in 1975 because people questioned how the money was being spent in his administration (some things never change). He went into exile in the UK and still lives there till today. Although he does still pay a crucial role in African politics.

This newly installed Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar has been a force in tackling crime in Nigeria since he came into office this year. He pledges to focus on retraining and capacity building for the officers and men of the Police Mobile Force. With his good looks and "im ready for anything" personality, we hope to see more of this uniformed general for some time to come.
