Yesterday at work, I heard this guy (obviously African American) telling another guy about these new Nike Sneakers (probably the Lebron ones) that he was going to get as soon as we left. We work night shift mind you...His words were something like..imma get one of my baby mamas to take me down there and cop one of them (why is he buying sneakers that probably cost like $200 if he has no car? idk)
Then when I got home I saw a news article that said "man robbed of sneakers" via towson patch (http://towson.patch.com/articles/man-robbed-of-sneakers)
The Victim's sneakers were stolen off his feet before the 15 and 17 yr old suspects fled.
This isn't the first time we have heard of sneaker robberies (never mind the fact that this is Baltimore)
I remember in high school, guys and some girls would always get whatever sneaker they had to...even if it meant only eating Linden's Butter cookies everyday at lunch. And if you didn't have "hard sneakers" u just weren't cool...smh
So I would really like to know what the fascination is with Sneakers in the African American community and with anyone who just has to get the latest pair of air whatevers...???
Please leave your comments..This is serious...It could save lives and stop robberies (or on the other hand tell me why Linden Cookies' stock keeps going up
